The Strangely Rigid State of Online Chat in the AI Era

 Even with AI transforming everything, online chat remains oddly… constrained. There isn’t really a free, casual, and open way to just talk to people anymore. In many ways, spontaneous conversation is frowned upon—either it’s seen as wasting time , or it has to be transactional , where people only engage if they’re getting something out of it. I experimented with ChatPage.ca , an idea where people could just talk freely. No strict purpose, no expectation—just chatting for the sake of chatting . But timing is everything, and this little experiment got completely overshadowed by the AI boom . Instead of people talking to each other, they started using my site as a ChatGPT alternative —a way to get AI to answer questions instead of actually engaging with humans. It makes me wonder: Do we really want to chat with people, or do we just want responses that serve our needs? The Death of the Casual Chat Room? Google has created a robot brain called PaLM-E that can do many different things when people tell it what to do.

 SHORT: Google and some researchers from a university made a new smart robot that can do many things without being told how to do each one. It can see things and understand what they mean, like finding chips in a drawer, and then make a plan to get them. The robot doesn't need people to tell it what to do, it can figure it out on its own. The researchers made it by teaching it with a lot of pictures and words. They hope it can be used to help people at home or work. They were: - Chat GPT is based on established/old tech. - We have achieved the DREAM of infinite television via perpetual AI Seinfeld. - Google is fine, not threatened.  - Actuaries have been aware of "social inflation" as a risk for a while.  Please see the video.   Zoho and many other companies are trying to create super-apps . These kinds of apps integrate data from several applications and apply advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques when moving between steps. Zoho Analytics is arguably their offering for this though it's fair to consider Zoho's entire suite as a super app type entity. In my day job, I frequently have to move between Word, Teams, Excel and Google Sheets to properly analyze, synthesize and present information. Zoho is one of many attempts to do that and I wonder if it's better for most people to try to build niche 'super-apps' that can handle workflows for different companies. Companies like Topicus and Softronic come to mind as well. It seems much better to own a pice of calculative process, like owning a portion of the pythagorean theorem, than it is to own anything else. I'm surprised the competition isn't more fierce. When I last went to my friend's house, I noticed that his son was playing. I sat next to him Wand observed what he was doing. I liked how the game looked interesting, so I asked him about it. He gave me the computer to try, and I won the first round. The TOY RUN game gives you the option to level up by purchasing new characters with the coins you had to collect in a set amount of time while you were in a lonely wilderness.
